I have a XL egg and would like to raise the grilling grate up to the felt line. How do you do that ???
I can do it with the placesetter but that would be indirect.

Woo2 or adjustable rig from the www.ceramicgrillstore.com. Or you can use fire bricks, beer cans, stainless steels bolts and extra grates that you can search and find on this forum.XL BGE; Medium BGE; L BGE

Innovations by Chance offers the "Raiser" to correct this issue. I know they currently offer a Large version, but I know that an XL version is on the horizon.

@matt121966 I got some firebricks from Northern Tool / Tractor Supply that I place along the top of the firering that allows me to raise the grid to just a bit above the felt line in my Large..... I'm sure it'd be the same for the XL.

The cheapest and fast way will be what jhl192 mentioned. Go to the home improvement store and get fire bricks or bolts, washers, and nuts.

I use two cooking grates. I place one on the fire ring, then I set three bricks that have been wrapped in HDAF on top, then I place the second grate on top of the bricks. The grate on the fire ring to prevents the bricks from falling inside the firebox. Simple, ultra safe and very effective.I've slow smoked and eaten so much pork, I'm legally recognized as being part swine - Chatsworth Ca.

Just to keep the GA theme. Fire bricks here. Second tier on carrige bolts for second level.

+1 for the Woo2. I really like mine. Simple, versatile, effective.

I have an XL, and use the CGS Woo2 most of the time. I also have a CGS AR, but for most cooks the Woo provides the raised direct platform. It is also very useful in providing a lower level for searing close to the lump. Additionally, the lower platform can be used to hold an indirect piece, instead of using the plate setter.Santa Paula, CA
