Eggcessories for Minimx?

We are celebrating our large eggs 1st anniversary with the gift of a Minimax to ourselves for Christmas. We purchased a small V- rack only to find it's too big. Anyone have any suggestions on what or where to find one that will work for the minimax as we are definitely taking it on the road with us as often as possible! Thanks for any and all recommendations!

    Everyone is going to suggest the woo from teh ceramic grill store and I haven't tried it yet and Toms stuff is always great but I would suggest the Kamado Joe Junior heat deflector and the Joe junior cooking grate. I had one from my KJ but you can go on KJs website and find a local dealer and get them to price out the heat deflector and the grate. It was about $80 for both but the KJ grate is a half inch bigger and fits the MM better than the MM stock grate. You will see its kinda annoying how much the grate slides around. Also the KJ deflector can be used for raised direct at 2 different levels and indirect with the stone. Pretty sure teh stone comes with the deflector as well.

    First off welcome to the forum.
    CGS WOO, tie down straps to secure inside truck bed or vehicle, 10"-13" pizza stone. If you already have a Stoker get another blower with adaptor, pit probe and food probe. For ash removal I've been using one of my shop vacuums just like on my LBGE. And I've already got a Rutland on standby ;)

    Welcome. Get a Woo fast. A Lodge 9" round CI is very handy. And I just got a High Q as I have them in both my Larges and Mini (I like them). image

  • Thanks for the advice. Read lots of posts about the Woo and am convinced there is one in our very near future!!

    High-Q's are good & FREE at Amazon. I went to order and they ask if I took the card I would get $40 free. So free High-Q and shipping and some little peace of crap. The card will be cut up as soon as it arrives. Love those cards and free $$ or hotel nights. image

    couple differences between the mini max woo and the kjoe junior racking system.

    1. full bottom ring on the woo vs open ended legs on the kjoe junior rack;
    -  full ring keeps the 10" stone on the woo.  the 10" kjoe stone can slip out the open legs when handling.  don't ask me how I know this..........

    2. round top ring on the woo vs. triangular top support on the kjoe junior rack;
    - can sear or wok from lower ring on woo.  the triangle shape makes it extremely cumbersome/impossible to sear or wok from the lower level on the kjoe rack.

    3. bge grid on woo vs kjoe hinge grid;
    - drop the bge grid on woo in any direction.  the kjoe hinge grid needs to sit a specific way on the kjoe rack because of the hinge,
    - spin the bge grid on the woo for maneuvering around hot spots.  can't spin the kjoe grid because of it's specific placement.

    4. no hinge bge grid vs kjoe junior hinge.
    - hinge is only useful on direct cook, as with indirect cooks the stone is in the way.

    5. woo placement vs kjoe rack placement
    - both sit on the fire ring,
    - woo right side up or inverted;  kjoe only up.

    6. bge grid fit vs kjoe grid fit
    - bge grid 13" OD,  kjoe grid 13-3/8" OD
    - bge grid on woo, only 1/4" gap between grid and woo.

    7.  pricing:  $75 woo combo vs. $80 kjoe junior combo
    -  woo combo includes a stainless drip pan, kjoe no drip pan

    lot of discussion between the two, just thought to make a comparison.

    @TJV The KJ at $80 includes a pizza stone and also a new much more functional grate. What you mentioned as a hinderance above is actually really nice that the larger grate stays in place and doesn't slide all around when locked in. I haven't used the woo but I know the KJ option is very nice and the difference in grate size is what sold me. The KJ grate fits the MM much betetr than the stock MM grate. I see what you are saying about searing with the KJ deflector but with the MM you are sitting right on the coals at fire ring level so thats kind of a moot point.
