New Large Egg and Table

My wife decided she was going to get me an egg for Christmas but said I had to pick it out because there were too many different options. We are lucky enough to have found out about Roswell Hardware and took advantage of a killer deal they had going on. We opted to trade out the nest for a table nest and some other accessories since I wanted to build a table. My brother in law had some leftover Red Oak that had been sitting in his warehouse for several years and his boss let it go for very cheap. I know it's not the best for an outdoor table but hopefully the Teak Oil finish will help make it last. I still need to get a piece of granite or marble for the top (and a bottle opener) but I'm not letting it hold me up. All in, I'm right at $100 for a table that I think looks much better than the one's available in most egg packages.
My first cook is going to be a ham on Christmas with some mac and cheese. I'm looking forward to a lot of great food on this thing!

Awesome! Merry Christmas Egghead! Table looks great! I'm not a wood working guy. Maybe others will chime in @nolaegghead
Would a spar finish help make it last longer? Again welcome aboard.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL -
Welcome to the forum. That's a beautiful table. Maybe a spar finish would help? I'm certainly no expert on that though. Or anything else for that matter.

It look so shiny and new... so does the table.
Looks like you're using that garage for more than car storage - Delta band saw and is that the head of a 5hp air compressor peaking out over the fender?
That lab looks very interested in the steak fall out zone already!!

BBQ is a celebration of culture in America. It is the closest thing we have to the wines and cheeses of Europe.

Thanks for the welcome, I did some research and opted for the teak oil rather than the spar varnish... yes, the dog is surely aware of where to find the food!

Sorry for the short response before, was on my phone. Yes, she is definitely a keeper! Married 1 week and counting... lol@DieselkW I'm very fortunate to have a nice place to work on things like this. Long story short, former father in law has a nice shop that I get to use still. That's my MG midget in the background and the engine that belongs in it is what you see peeking over the fender. Behind the wall is actually a gunsmith/machine shop and we're working in the main shop which is setup more for automotive work. As you can see, we were actually kind of working in a small space for most of the project but I'm grateful for any space over there. Thanks again for the warm welcome!

I got my first egg for Christmas three years ago. The rest of the family loves it as much as I do. They call it the gift that keeps on giving.Houston (Clear Lake) TX
