OT- Open vents(hot)

Left the vents on the coal stove wide open when I went out to mess with the BGE. It got hot in a hurry. Anybody else heat with wood or coal and forget about the vents? I hate when I do this because the house heats up to over 80°.

@johnmitchell‌, not very long from the time I shut door.

It was almost out when I emptied the ash. When it's like this I build a layer of coal at a time. After it gets a good bed of coals I load it up. After loading it up I leave the door open until the fire roars before closing it and then leave the vents wide open for a bit. Keep in mind, I already have a good fire going when I shut the door. Usually I'll set the timer on the stove so I remember to set the vents.

Occasionally I get sidetracked and it gets hot. One of these days I'm going to melt the stove.
