German Christmas Market Fire Cooking (pic heavy)
I am in Frankfurt, Germany for work this week and visited the Christmas Market yesterday. Thought folks might enjoy the amount of cooking over coals that goes on.
The swinging Sausage grill was cooking 6-8 different types of sausage, they are sold in the bun for 4 Euros.
The salmon on a plank is cooked vertically next to the fire, this is sold in a bun or on salad with a choice of dill cream or honey mustard ( it was fantastic). 7 Euros in the bread.
Next is the Feuerzongenbowle (Fire Tong Bowl). This is a big pot of red wine simmered with fruit spices to make traditional Gluhwein, that then has rum soaked into a large sugar cone set afire over the wine. The rum and sugar burn and Carmelize and drip into the wine. Fortifies you nicely against the cold.
4 Euros for 8 ounce cup (25cl)
And finally a panorama of the Christmas Market
Enjoy

Oh how I miss Christmas in Germany. When I was stationed in Germany, I thought being overseas during the holidays was gonna be a downer. I was so wrong. The feeling of Christmas is awesome in Germany. It's not about gifts, just good times. Enjoy the feeling.Steven

Really cool. My dad was stationed in West Berlin in the early 70s. Some of his best memories are around Christmas time. Thanks for sharing.
