He was before my time, but he was a great ambassador for the game.  Too bad I have always disliked the Habs.

That was well put. 6' 3" when the average guy was about 5' 10". He made Howe (also in my prayers) look tiny. Turned down the Governor General position under Chrétien and a Senate position under Harper. Turned down a spot on Team Canada in '72 cause he was retired.

I didn't know he turned down political appointments.  I now have even more respect for the man!
