What the H%#@ just happened!!!

Sorry, I didn't intend on a second post today, but.....I had the BGE going up to temp with the cover closed, the daisy wheel on but slid full open, and the bottom vent almost full open. It was just a little above temp at 350, so I slid the wheel back in place with the petals about 1/2 open and then I started to push the bottom vent to where I wanted it...about 1" open, but when I slid it over...fire came screaming out the vent about 3 or 4 inches, and it sounded like a blow torch...I know that I should open the cover carefully, but the flame thrower out the bottom vent really got my attention....this has never happened before, and I'm not sure what happened....any help?  thank you

Yes not super common but it happens. Its the same as a flash back but the egg is closed so it has to go out anywhere it can. I usually see it when it gets really hot then I shut it down most of the way. Sometimes you will see smaller ones where just smoke puffs come out the bottom.
