At least for this Thanksgiving anyway! For those of you who haven't seen wild turkeys fly just trust me - they are strong flyers! I took this picture in our woods before something spooked them and they were over the top of 40 foot trees in no time!

Lots of Wild Turkey in my neck of the woods. Along with deer, cougar, bear, opossum, raccoon, armadillo, gators etc etc.
When a Wild Turkey flies the wing noise reminds me somewhat of a Pheasants flight sound. Beautiful birds.

They sound like a dad gum 747 taking off when you spook them before daylight on the way to the duck pond. Happy Thanksgiving everyone. Of the many, many things I'm thankful for one is the expertise and many friends (whom I've never met) on this forum. (Sniff sniff).

I've seen them fly and hanging out in trees 50' off the ground. Just don't drop them from helicopters.

I guess that some of "Mr. Carlsons" turkeys survived the drop.

Is there a season for hunting turkeys there? Something to consider.
