Scored a bottle of Old Rip Van Winkle

My bro gave me a call and said that they got a small shipment of Van Winkle bourbons. I opted for the 10 year old due to the crazy cost. One of my buddies went big and got the 23 year old. Can't wait to try them both.

  • Killer score man.  That stuff is pretty awesome.  The scarcity of it adds to the allure but the quality is top notch.

Stuff is awesome.  Makes me wish I still drank!!  Enjoy it neat or with a couple ice cubes.

Nice score. That's a tough bottle to get!!

It's more hype than flavor. If you really like it, (which imo, the 15 is the best) You can get the W.L. Weller 12 which is made in the same distillery from the same mash and doesn't come with the cult like following/pricing.  I like the WL Weller 12 better than the pappy 10 but not as much as pappy 15.

Makers 36 tops them all to me though. And seeing as it's readily available will always be my bourbon of choice.

Wow...very cool. Pappy is the reason I switched from tequila to bourbon in the first place.
    Fish, Hunt, Cook....anything else?

  • Actually, I think there is something wrong with that bottle.  Please send to me ASAP so I can thoroughly inspect the entire contents for you.  I am offering to do this free of charge to boot, happy holidays!

+1 on the Weller...I always have a bottle or 3 in my liquor cabinet in case of emergency.
