Agreed; that is a heck of a nice buck! Congratulations!
7-mag is one hell of a rifle for those places out west where you can see for more than 150 yards at a time (haha). I've hunted big chunks of California and Nevada with the lucky 7. Now that I'm out here where I belong in the mid-west I'm dusting off the ol' .243. Wish me luck next weekend, haven't heard of much here on the rainy opening weekend of gun season in Wisconsin.
Cheers all -

Oh, and I was thinking earlier, I bet Mickey's coffee rub on that backstrap then reverse seared nice and rare would be AMAZING! I'm hoping I get the chance to find out first hand...

Thanks for the nice compliments! We are in SW Nebraska so it is pretty open country around here. I about spit my coffee through my nose when he shot!! Didn't know if it was the bang or that the deer dropped!! Lol
-
Not to hijack, but my son was pretty pumped about his "trophy". He dropped it in its tracks. I wasnt touching the gun. ( he's 7).

That smile is priceless!! Tell him I said great job!!

We had a nice buck few weeks ago but it turned and was just a bad angle. Would have been one for the wall but couldn't risk bad shot and lose him. We've tried to wait it out for a buck but he finally decided to shoot a doe. I was very proud and he was very tickled.
