V Rack..........

When people post pics I always look at the setup they use as it seems there are so many ways to cook on the egg. I noticed a lot use the V-Rack for smoking (i.e. Boston Butt, etc.). What's the advantage of that instead of just putting the meat directly on the grid? I hesitate buying the rack as I don't see how it helps.[p]Howard

    Howard,
I don't have one but have had my egg for about 3 plus years, while I have also noticed how many use them I have never had to have one. I use the plate setter with a drip pan and just put the meat on the grid and let the fat drip into the pan. I have considered getting one to see what I may be missing. Good question and I also am waiting to hear the answers.
    A great weekend to ya,

handy if i want to put a drip pan under the food or inverted for lotsa ribs. other than that very little use. I haven't used mine in almost a year.

Howard,[p]It's pretty handy as a rib rack or to set a pork loin over a drip pan. If you cook your loin direct, you can put it on the grid and it gets a little farther away from the fire. I use mine quite a bit. Makes it easy to pull the loin off of the grill and it's a good place to let it rest before you slice it. Not a must have, but I'm glad I've got one.[p]Mike
