My dog ate my probes.

Yup.

...she just could not resist the smokey taste of those yummy probes and chewed the part where the metal meets the wire.   They still work, but I am not confident on their accuracy or certainly waterproofness.

So, know of any Maverick ET-732 probes or units on sale?

Did quick search and the probes are $20 (each) everywhere and the unit seems $60 everywhere.

Did not come across any sales or promotions.   Since 2 probes will end up costing me 2/3 the cost of an entire new unit, I thought I'd buy a 2nd unit and then keep the old one as a spare when I have multiple roasts in at one time.

I see that they have a new Maverick ET-735 Bluetooth version coming out soon.  Looks fancy, but I am thinking the wireless range of the 732 (and the simplicity of it) will outweigh any bluetooth benefits.   It does come with new waterproof probes, which will be nice.

Thanks in advance for any tips!

I would call Maverick. Maybe they will send new ones at no charge. Probably not, but it's worth a phone call.

All of my probe wires are fine. The wooden handle in my mini, not so much.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

I can certainly sympathize with you man.  I got some nice totes to put my gloves, striker, lighter cubes, and a lighter in for my table.  Went outside and my stupid dog had my gloves out slinging them around.  Not to mention, she got my thermometer a while back too.  I am very cautious now with my Maverick and Party Q.  Oh, my PartyQ adapter is gone also... Forgot about that one.

I would not worry about the accuracy.  If they still read, then the wires haven't been broken.  Now, there is a high probability they could fail soon, but if they read, they more than likely are reading correctly.

Was it listed as compatible?  Because there are different types of thermocouples.  Type J & Type K are not interchangeable.  they have different output voltage curves with respect to temperature.

Yeah, I even have an older Maverick (single probe) and it doesn't work with the 732.

Maybe Maverick will sympathize and give me a break on a set.   Can't see how they can get $40 for two probes, that's nuts.

Funny responses, though.  I guess I'm not alone and it sounds like tarheelmatt has had it worse than me!

@KiterTodd, well, I had to apologize to Maggie today.  I found my BBQ Guru adapter.  Still doesn't make up for the gloves, thermometer, grill brush, bag of lump, and drip pan.

  • All my older grill tools have teeth marks. Brush included. That was the work of my last lab. I caught the current lab licking my probes a minute ago.

I had a dog chew up my large plastic spoon I use backpacking.  I figured she added character to it and positively identified as mine so for years, it was my large stirring spoon when out backpacking.  It was only a couple of years ago I replaced it finally with a newer lighter weight spoon.

The probes for a Maverick are RTD based devices. Not compatible with any thermocouples. RTD's are not nearly as rugged as a thermocouple. The ones I purchased from them work fine on my 732.
