    I took it to 700 and shut it down. Will see if that helps. It was pretty smokey so I may have to do a full cheap burn. I don't have a pizza stone and it is a little smokeyfor pizza.

    Flip it upside down and run it at 600* for 2 hours. That should do the trick.

    wire brush it..then take it up to 600

    The Dude..a Mini and a Large Egg..a DigiQ DX (BGE Green)..some Cast Iron...a Thermapen.............and an Ol' Fashion

    a wide blade putty knife will work well, first - otherwise wire brush bristles will fill up all too quickly! Then the burn off and then since you taught yourself a lesson wrap with HD foil in the future! LOL! At least that is what I have learned to do! Believe it or not regular kitchen aluminum foil will melt and HD isn't that much more expensive and works so much better as it won't melt, and resists tearing after future crud has coated it and returned to a cold solid state.

    Thanks for the advice. I shut it down and will check it out tomorrow to see if it needs more time to get cleaned. I hate wasting good lump though. I may have to get a pizza stone to try out pizza for The first time. Of course I will just start with Papa Murphy's.
