Just built this table....

Built this table with my father in law. Both of us have very little knowledge of wood work. Total cost to build table (still need to add cabinet doors and drawer) is $315. We had the hardest time getting the urethan coat to be smooth on top. Had a car guy come look at it, he took it to his shop and it is silky smooth. I'd recommend this if anyone else is running into this issue.

Very nice.  What kind of wood did you use?  Pine?  And, in general,  does anyone ever build something similar with a hole to support an umbrella?  Again, really neat set up.   Well thought out.

Yes just the cheap white willow found at Lowe's. Since we weren't very experienced we didn't want to spend a ton of money on wood that we might mess up.
