Lexington NC BBQ festival

Tomorrow is the festival. 31st I believe. Anyone going? I used to go when I lived up there last time was in 97 or 8. if you go post up a report. I may head up next year it sort of snuck up on me this year.

It's gotten so crowded you can't even move in streets. Music is fun and a good time if you can brave the hordes.

I went the last 3-4 years and I agree way to crowded....I would like to see the sand sculpter that always amazes me

Agree with @Wolfpack.  Usually have good bands but have not been for the last several years due to the crowd.

I live 10 min from downtown. Will not catch me going there. To crowded and the BBQ just isn't like going and sitting down.

Wow! I just looked at some Google images! Place looks like Times Square on New Years Eve!!! With shorter buildings.

Matt I don't mean to trash the festival but I think they should have more vendors with bbq related stuff and less China junk that every flea market in the country has. Also, for what it is worth I use to think the bbq was wonderful and the last time I stopped at a well known restaurant (at the corner of two major highways), I wished I was home eating bbq off my egg. But I sure love the sand sculpter what talent they have.

@piney, I am just not a fan of the festival.  I tell everyone if you want to experience Lexington BBQ you need to come and sit down to eat it.  

Now, on your other point, I personally have not ate as much of bought Q mostly because I like what I get from my own.  Now, I do use Lexington style as a base of my own Q, but I just add items I like.  

My personal favorite Lexington BBQ restaurant is Speedy's.   Honey Monks is good, but they are very proud of it.  I do feel Honey Monks Q has more smoke flavor to it though.  

Not sure about lately, but Honey Monk doesn't even participate in the Festival.  

You sure you didn't want to be a part of this madness?  I know I do not.

Wow that is a bigger crowd than I remember.  @tarheelmatt I am pretty sure you are correct honeymonk's no longer participates.
