Thermapen deals?

I'm considering buying a Thermapen...just wondering what suggestions you guys might have for the best pricing. I'm not in a rush to buy it...unless the itch to buy one begins to need more attention. LOL

I've searched Amazon and visited the Thermaworks site.

Anybody got any pointers?

They have a sale on them a few times a year. Normally can get them around $85 on sale. I think they have a sale going right now on the brown ones. BTW the orange ones are the fastest. ;)

Definitely the backlit model. I also have the glow in the dark silicone boot and leather case. I use it egging but, actually use it more at work (almost every call I go on). The accuracy is excellent for a test instrument. It's much quicker than using my thermocouple K type on my fluke and won't short out on wet product. Thermoworks makes a quality product at a reasonable price.

Is the orange ones are fastest a joke?  I have a camo one and it's extremely fast.  It makes for some amazingly cooked food.
  • Thanks eggers! I wasn't thinking backlit until now. I think I'll go that route for the few extra bucks.

And yes, I'm pretty sure the "Orange is the fastest" is a joke.  :))

Up to you on the backlit feature but I've never had a need to use it. I do my night time cooking on a porch that's that has a light, so maybe that's why.

My best advice is to order two. Your wife is going to want yours all the time indoors and you will not be able to find when needed. Oh, the orange and the green seem to be faster.

Red is the fastest... followed by British Racing Green....then Blue..... then Orange......then Brown!  BTW this is all a joke!!  This argument occurs everytime someone posts about buying one.

Thermoworks has a OPEN BOX sale a few times a year and also has some specials that they run throughout the year.  I would wait for one of the sales and get the backlit.

The open box deals are the best. That's how I got mine.
