Telework Day...

...steak for lunch!!

image

I don't know if it was the egg or the Delmonico I picked up from the Amish market this weekend, but man was it good.  You know the steak...one of those juicy steaks where even the fat melts in your mouth like a perfectly cooked prime rib. ? Damn.  Maybe I'll make another one for dinner.  :)

Oh yeah, while I had it lit I cooked up some sausages for later...had to sample it.

Looks great!!! Gotta love working at home. For a zillion reasons. As for steaks, I pretty much stopped buying them 2-3 years ago. Mine are almost always either tough or flavorless. Or both. And I refuse to spend the $20 a pound a real butcher charges. Oh well. Doc says to limit beef anyway.

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Yup, I wish I could work from home regularly, but it's just a day a week for me.  I find I either work through lunch and skip it entirely, or make something large!  (or do a day long smoke in the background)

Tough steaks.....well, I get that occasionally, but usually it is more my fault over the cut of meat.  Does make a difference, though.  This was a 16 oz. steak that cost $12/lbs at the Amish market.  I don't know if that is a good price or not but it was so good...I would have been happy baying $30+ for it in a restaurant, and I KNOW it wouldn't have been as good!

We have Safeway around here which has decent steaks.  I get their Rancher's Reserve line, which I think is only "Select" but they're good!  I'll have to try some of the steaks at the Harris Teeter counter which look good and HAVE To be cheaper than what Wegman's charges (although those look good).

I brought this steak to room temperature, put a little olive oil on it and Dizzy's Raising The Steaks seasoning.  Which was yummy.
