Another Nube

First time posting - brand new XL Egg.   Delivered yesterday and already 21 lbs of pork butt on it.    Had the dealer put it together (free), but am never convinced everything is correct when I don't do it (and sometimes when I do!)

There is an an eighth of an inch overhang in the back where the hinges are.   Is that normal?   I particularly notice because some smoke comes out in that area while smoking the butts.   Dealer forgot to include instructions, CD manual, etc., so no way to look up (but I will get them).   Does the egg also come with a wrench, or is that self provided.

Thanks so much.  I look forward to participating more in the forum.  Challenger table on order.

I think I am one of the fortunate ones that has never had an issue with base and the top lining up and I am going on 2 years which included a complete disassemble to load in to my challenger cart, and a gasket redo.

You will love your challenger cart.

You should contact you dealer to realign the dome. I had the same issue when BGE sent out a serviceman to replace my defective dome under warranty. Once he realigned it there was no longer any smoke out of the back.

Welcome to the fun!!!  There is no wrench with the Egg it is self provided.  The lid can be adjusted.  I have put a few together and if you loosen the hinge bolts adjustments can be made and then tighten up.  Looking forward to pics on the pork butt.

Thanks all!  I will readjust after pork butt done and load up some pics.   Figured I get some basic experience before the Flame Pro comes.

Hope to have pizza for the kids tonight - depending on when butt actually finishes.  Might be late night pizza!

Welcome aboard and enjoy the journey. +1 with letting your dealer know of the mis-alignment, especially since it causes an air-gap.

Thanks again everyone.   Yep the dealer confirmed that the new units come with no paperwork or CD's.   Go to the Internet!    (Glad I was already there).   Told dealer about misalignment, as expected (and reasonable) told it likely happened while riding around in the delivery truck.   No problem, sounds like an easy fix.

Dealer sells A LOT of eggs, so I suspect that they usually do it right.   They even lent me a XL nest to use while I wait for the Challenger table to be manufactured (8 weeks).

@noglej‌ sounds like you've got a solid dealer especially if they "lent" a nest until ya get your table. Nice! :-bd

Welcome to the circus.  I watched the CD when I took delivery of my egg.  Compared to what you will find on this forum and other internet resources, you are not missing anything.  I am the Egger that I am because of what I have garnered from the folks who post on this forum.
