Smokeware Cap temperature stability

Has anyone else noticed that the Smokeware cap seems to make it much easier to stabilize the temp of their Egg? I am referring primarily to the 350-375° range where most of my cooks are done. With the DFMT I would often have run away temps after it seemed to be steady at a set point for an hour or more only to find it at a considerably higher temp later in the cook. This has happened on both my M and my XL. FWIW, Both of my caps are of the "looser" variety but seem to maintain set points quite well.
A poor widows son.

Agreed. My favorite part is the fact that the settings stay the same when you open the dome(since there is no shifting as in the instance you forget to position the DFMT to prevent this).

Gonna be honest, in that temp range, I go topless (I like tee'ing off the neighbors)Only used for smoke & BBQ.Bx - > NJ ->TX!!!All to get cheaper brisket!

From using it all the time I can dial it in close to a gnats ass and it holds well. 350℉ &+ I leave the cap off and just use the bottom vent to dial in/regulate. Excellent product.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Or love bugs considering I redecorated my entire front end of my work van with them over the last few days.Fred19Flintstone said:You sound like an expert in gnats!

If you leave the Cap off and use the bottom vent to dial in temps, what is the use of the Cap?

I like that it keeps rain out of the egg. Down here were get some extremely heavy rains.Southeast Florida - LBGE
In cooking, often we implement steps for which we have no explanations other than ‘that’s what everybody else does’ or ‘that’s what I have been told.’ Dare to think for yourself.
