This is probably not a concern with the value of goodies inside, but does a commercial unit cost a lot more to run? I don't know about the south but here the cost of power is skyrocketing, I pay approx. $200 monthly now using about 32kWh avg. daily. I don't even have A/C, although I don't need it

@poster depending on size of compressor etc will determine Kw usage. The one's I'm looking at are considered energy efficient. And to put it in perspective we have basically two homes in one (attached Mom Quarter's/home) so essentially 2»» water heaters, heatpumps/ACs, refrigerators, ovens, microwaves etc, etc and one R-I-F. Plus one Well with (2) 230V pumps (no water bill per se but all electic). An average electric bill in deep summer lower $300 ish. Spring, Fall & Winter time is much lower and realistically it's only crazy hot here for 3-5 months. The rest of the time it's very pleasant.
Fortunately a lot /most/ of the cooking is on the BGE ;-)LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL -
Game over. We have decided to go with a white large capacity upright freezer. I spect commercial has its place but, after careful deliberation it has been decided to leave comm appliances in the commercial kitchens :-). That and my egg table. B-)
Think we'll pick it up this weekend. Thanks for all the inputs.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL -

Yep. That's about right. But, a lil redesigning could bring that down by around 30%-45%...& possibly more.johnkitchens said:I have thee water heaters and 4 AC units.

Shiff said:Over the last few years we have purchased 2 Frigidaire upright frost free freezers - 17 cu ft and 26 cu ft. They are "his" (26 cu ft) and "hers" (17 cu ft). They are working great and are set for 0 degrees. We have noticed very little degradation in meat quality even if the meat was in there for almost a year.
I don't know anything about the brand you mentioned, but I can't see spending a fortune on a freezer. I know that consumer reports has given lower ratings to so called professional appliances over the years but I don't believe they included the brand you mentioned.
No matter what you end up with, having a large dedicated freezer is great.
I would have to agree.Dave - Austin, TX -
