Low and Slow to Sear Temp

THEBuckeye
Posts: 4,232
Cooked ABT'S for the fist time yesterday. 250 indirect for abut two hours. I transitioned to a low CI grate on a Spider and could not get the temp above 600. When I put the fajita steaks on the temp dipped to 500ish. I was hoping to get to 700 but no go. Of course, they were a smidge overcooked!
Reasons?

Check your air flow. Some of the bottom holes could have been clogged. The other could have been not enough lump to reach that temp.XL BGE, LG BGE, and a hunger to grill everything in sight!!!Joe- Strongsville, OH

Fuel or airflow probably. Did you have enough lump after the 2 hour cook? If so, you may have had airflow issues. I'd try cleaning it out and see if it takes care of it.
Tough day for the big ten yesterday!
