Adhesive for table top

Just putting the finishing touches on my new grill table, what is the best way to attach a granite counter top to it? I've been told that a silicon based adhesive is the best but i've also been told to use construction adhesive.

  • I have no clue But my thought is ask the people you got the Granite from. If you got it from an individual I would still call a local Granite distributor.

    Just a thought

  • Liquid Nails makes a Granite and Marble adhesive. Website states that it bonds stone to wood, and is suitable for indoor and outdoor use.

I hope to be picking up my granite top this week, and I plan to ask them for a recommendation as well.

We fasten all of our outside grill and kitchen granite tops with silicone.. I would not use anything that doesn't stay somewhat pliable. I would only use a few dots or globs around the perimeter because the wood and the stone will expand/contract at different rates and you want some flexibility to absorb that movement. Don't use any adhesive that oils like Liquid Nails, the oil could cause a bleed through that could be noticeable depending on the color of the granite

  • Talked to the people I got the granite from and they suggested Titanium silicon adhesive. A dime size drop in each corner. Thanks for the help, I'll assemble tonight and post pics.
  • The guys who installed my granite top said to use no adhesive. They just caulked with silicon around the seam where granite and wood meet to keep any moisture out of the cabinet. That granite isn't going anywhere. Its too heavy.
  • My granite guy also said to just lay it on top and not use any adhesive.
