  • Yeah, no reservations and the layover were two of my favorite shows. I wish I could get them on netflix or hulu.

If I had to pick one guy to hang out with, and my only choices were Guy Fieri and Anthony Bourdain, I'd choose Guy in a heartbeat. Fieri seems like a fun-loving, goofball. Bourdain, on the other hand, I find to be a bit pompous and judgmental. Granted, their actual personalities may differ greatly from what we see on TV. But, if they are represented accurately even after TV editing, then I would assume Bourdain is a bit of a ****.

I trust his palate though. I read an article saying that he would choose Oklahoma Joes BBQ in Kansas City as one of his five places to eat before dying. He was right. Holy cow.

Read Bourdain's Kitchen Confidential if you get a chance. Written when he was still a chef before the TV shows, etc. Great storyteller and you learn some things about restaurant kitchens you didn't want to know.
    Love you bro!

Yep, and his follow up books are good too.

  • I have all of AB's books (including his fiction) and love the guy. Yes, he's a pompous ass at times but he knows and admits he's a pompous ass. Love his writing and would rather do a shot with him than dinner with any of the Food Network cadre (ok, Alton Brown is cool and a local boy.)

    My 2 cents.

Kitchen Confidential and Medium Raw are mandatory reads.
