XL Big Green Egg hinge height

First post! I'm finishing up my patio and grilling station and will be joining the BGE club very soon!  I'm wondering what the height of the back hinge is when opened.  My patio builder needs to know how deep the hole should be for the lid to have clearance when opened.

I would give them a call at the company.  I just went out and measured mine then realized that it sits in a nest which wouldn't help you.  Give them a call for the proper height.

I had the same question a while back. I'm not home right now but if I remember correctly, the back part of the hinge goes about 1.5 inches lower than the fixed portion when it is opened. PM me next week if you need more accurate details. Thx tog

Actually one other measurement would be helpful. From the bottom of the egg to the hinge when lid is open. I'll have about 5" worth of counter space behind the egg and I'm worried about clearance when open since it looks like hours dips below the countertop. Thanks again.
