Heading into hour 23 of a butt cook! I've never had a butt go this long. The egg has been holding steady at 240 the whole time.

I checked with my thermapen to make sure my Maverick was correct and they read identical temps.

I had one go 27 once. I'm not sure how the lump lasted. Mine was 9 pounds. Just a stubborn piece of meat.

I had a 9 plus pounder go 21 hours once it was out of the norm for what I usually see.

They always go about 16 hours. This is definitely a strange one. Closing in on 24 hours!

Who knows man. That's the challenge with butts, it's hard to plan around them. We've had many late dinners because of this.

We are sitting at 202 degrees. Shooting for 205. It has officially been over 24 hours. I love my egg! No charcoal added and holding strong at 240-250.

I cooked 5, 7lb butts on my large earlier this summer. Took them off between 21-23 hours. Best damn butts I have ever cooked. Ran about 250 dome the entire cook. Rockwood all the way.

24 hours and 40 minutes was the grand total. There is still lump left. This is why I love Humphrey Charcoal.

did an 11lb pork butt this weekend, cooked for 11hrs at 250 got an internal of 190 deg. I didn't get the bark like I got on the last one. But through the night my temp dropped. Is it normal for temps to rise and drop during the cooking process?
