Brisket over Butt

Been on a three week diet. Been saving up Weight Watchers points. Thought I'd cook a couple butts and a brisket tonight.

Trying a new to me method on the butts. I cit a few slits and put a little Bad Byron's in, then butcher-twined them back shut.

I used Mudflap Jones rub on the brisket.

Sounds like a very fun cook. Why not leave the butt splayed open for more bark? Not knockin your cook just askin.

A brisket and a butt on the same cook you don't see that very often! That extra bark sounds like a good idea.

Butt turned out perfect. I was afraid the butt might be dry if I did not tie/seal it up. It seemed to have more of the rub flavor throughout every bite than the traditional rub-on-outside-only method. I will definitely cook all butts this way from now on. I would like to try not toeing one up to see if more surface area allows for more bark while still getting thee juiciness. Maybe next time !!! I do highly recommend this split-butt method !!

Looks good, any after cook photos? I inject with apple juice and BBQ rub to get more flavor in my pork butts, you might that sometime too.
