Just starting to cook brisket. What cut should I be buying? The flat, point, or whole brisket do most prefer. Am I better off choosing one cut over the other?

Whole brisket, prime if you can find it, or choice if not. Leave select at the store.They/Them

Prime Packards are excellent if you can find them, +1 on the select staying at the store. The other one that is really good is Choice Certified Angus Beef. I always pass on the flats only but would love to be able to buy just points.

I just got the same thing from heb for $2.98. They mis marked it and I took advantage. (I did ask the meat market guy if it was mis marked and he said it was not)Be careful, man! I've got a beverage here. -
Thanks for info

I agree with Ben, points only if you can get them. Certified angus choice or prime only. Check out the recipe from Adam Perry Lang on brisket and I believe you will hit a home run with it. I've done the burnt ends with and without his melted garlic recipe and the consensus was unanimous they couldn't pick which one they liked better. Check out some of your local butchers or a farmer's market and you may find they will sell you the points. Here in ATL they do it at a local huge farmer's market.Grill4ULoving Life!
