BGE Table for LGE EGG question

I ordered my large BGE last Friday and decided to build my own table from the plans online. Table is built except for the hole cut. BGE arrived yesterday..The plan showed 17" from the top of the paver on the shelf to the top of the table. I have attached the spring assist bands to the unit and see that the height from the floor to the bottom of the spring mechanism is approx 16.5" and when opened it drops to approx 14.25 inches. Soooooo, is the answer to raise the BGE by adding another paver (or two) and decreasing the size of the hole for the egg...or should one just cut our the table top to accomodate? I am thinking the increase in height is probably the best answer. BTW, my neighbor offered to make me a stainless steel top for the table. Any help from you "Eggsperts"....Thanks

    BigAL,
I cut notches in my table top to allow the spring hinge to recess into the table. I wanted to keep the eggs as low in the top as possible...you can see many detailed pics on my website int "new table" section...feel free to e mail if you have questions...HTH[p]Wess
