Gave the Egg a rest - Tuna and wedge salad

Cooked tuna medium rare in CI skillet. Wedge salad with onion, bacon, and homegrown Roma tomatos and cucumbers. Used homemade Ranch for dressing.

Tuna was fresh from the Atlantic and was caught Saturday. Best tuna I have eaten to date.

@HDumptyESq... That doesn't sound good.  Something go wrong with your cook?  

@travisstrick I hope yours is as good as mine.  You will be wanting more.  

The sauce I used soy, oyster, Siricha, honey, rice wine vinegar, ginger, salt, and pepper.  Reduced it down a little in a small pot.  Added a little butter at the end and turned out beautifully.

@tarheelmatt. I described it on yesterday's post. I think it was part me and partly the recipe - just didn't do it justice. Ah well, another notch on the bedpost of experience. :-L

Lookin good.  I love a good wedge salad, but ranch?  C'mon man!  A wedge has to have blue cheese.

You're right, it does, but have to admit the ranch was pretty awesome too.

@saluki2007 well, I didn't have any blue cheese or I would have likely made it with that.  Or dump blue cheese in the ranch!


Yesterday was a free for all at the house.  The wife had a late lunch with my mother and wasn't hungry.  She does not like fish.  So I knew what protein I was going to have!  In summer when I have veggies, I eat salads all the time. 

Think I may get some blue cheese and make it authentic this weekend though.  Stay tuned.... brother.

@tarheelmatt  Have you tried grilling roman lettuce?  Done it a few times.  Excellent way to mix up the salad rotation.

@saluki2007 I have not, but have noticed folks on Food Network do it and thought some day I may try it.  However, my wife does not like to "mix up" stuff to much.  She can be rather boring with food. I either have to do something totally different while cooking, which takes time, or wait till she isn't home or we do a free for all.
