XL or L

I have a large and medium. Medium was first, got a large (never used) demo egg with eggcessories for a great price so it made sense. If I had my druthers I would have gone with an XL instead, but it wad too much money. M and L seem to compliment each other as I don't do too many really large cooks.Steve

@RiverDoc you said you needed more space for apps have you seen the adjustable rig from ceramic grill store it gives you almost twice the space. @badinfluence I think I remember you saying you was going to order one just wondering your opinion on it.Lexington TN

@MJLivingston I did order 2 AR racks for bot of my large eggs with all upgrades they could recommend. I have only used them 1 time as i have only had them about 2 weeks now. As of this moment i think they are overpriced for what you get for your money. with both racks and options i have over 500.00 invested. Again the jury is still out on the racks as it has only been 2 weeks so far.But i can say for sure....You can NEVER have too many eggs1 XXL BGE, 1 LG BGE, 2 MED. @badinfluence yeah I just read where you was talking about them in another thread. I was curious because it seems like you have been egging a while and was use to not having it. I really do use mine every cook but that's what I started on thanks to this forum. I really do think it is the best accessory for the egg. Just wanting to get a different view point.Lexington TN

@MJLivingston i have been egging for better the 10 years and when i first started there were no such things for the egg just a plate setter and racks. Guess I'm kind of old school on this issue, but like i said i am still playing with them so I'm not going to say its a waste of money by no means. I have not done pizza in a long while maybe i will see a real benefit with it there.1 XXL BGE, 1 LG BGE, 2 MED. BGE, 1 MINI BGE, 1 Peoria custom cooker Meat Monster.Clinton, Iowa

@Riverdoc - Long answer to your simple question:For what it's worth, I got a L for a wedding gift from my in-laws and got hooked. I added a M after a couple years and they all gave me a hard time about "needing" a second egg. When I found out how much more fun and capable the 2-egg system was for cooking, I sold the M and added a second L (so I could use all the accessories - at least that was my excuse for SWMBO! I have a homemade raised grid for L and and adjustable rig). As it turned out, I missed the M so much that I "had" to buy another one - it's my favorite size to cook on by the way. Never had an XL so I can't offer advice on that but I did add a S to the mix so I can travel with an egg now. We now use the S and M 4-5 times per week for family dinners and the L eggs on weekends for bigger cooks. I have used all four eggs on several occasions but I need more practice on timing out the finish of different food items to keep things from getting too crazy.Welcome to the addiction!L x2, M, S, Mini and a Blackstone 36. We are new eggheads too, but decided to buy the XL and really love it! It has room for a lot and the only thing we are planning on doing is adding the multilevel grate system to it. We thought in the future we may end up with more than one as well but for now we are just loving the one we have! Hope you enjoy your EGG like we do!

@RiverDoc I'd like to add to my large, but can't really justify it as a need. I've thought about a small or mini for searing, but another large would be perfect so all accessories would be interchangeable. Plus adding a large would bring symmetry to a table. Have fun making a decision. :-tSteven

The AR works great for me. I also have the spider with stone and a small cast iron grate that I use to sear down by the fire. I thought about the swing grate but I don't really want slop all over my table or deck when it swings outside the egg. Maybe it's not a problem but was a concern of mine - haven't used one. I also made a home made raised grid for my other L so I have plenty of cooking capacity for my needs.RiverDoc said:@minniemoh thanks do you like the AR and have you used a swing grate?L x2, M, S, Mini and a Blackstone 36.
