Ready to break down and get one- what do you use serrated or slicer? I'm leaning towards a scalloped edge to help bite through the bark but wanted to check with people that have and use them...

I like a slicer non serrated. Mainly because I wanted something I could sharpen if need be.
Picked these up at RD for a reasonable price.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL -

I've used an electric knife on my briskets at home.A couple months ago I entered my first barbeque contest, and didn't have electricity. I brought my slicer and serrated knives (both Henckel's). The slicer worked beautifully on the first briskie (used up for attendee samples) but my second one had a hard crust on the bottom; the slicer didn't cut it, the serrated blade did but really tore the slices up. I'm extremely happy I got 5th out of 16 for brisket, because I KNOW I got zero points for presentation.A 'que Competition was marked off my Bucket List, I doubt I'll ever enter another one. I like cooking in my backyard for friends and family, and I'll use an electric knife for that. But a slicer works too...___________
