OT a new thermometer
Just received my two new tel-tru thermometers for the smoker I am having built. They were a little bigger than I thought. I wish the probe was narrow on this so I could use a big one like this on the egg. You can read it from 20' away.

@GATABITES They were $29 with shipping on eBay. They hole in ur egg would need to be a little bit bigger. They have them in this model that go up to 700 degrees. The model is a GT500R.

Big green egg just put out a new one that is that same size. I saw one in Roswell hardware the other day but didn't have my phone to get a pic. It was $32.

OK so I just looked th enew egg one isn't quite that big but it's 3" and way bigger than the original.
-
Yes three inches is much better than the original. This thing is. Whopping 5" it was bigger than I thought and I had to call my buddy that splitting the cost of the smoker with me and tell him I had made a mistake on the size. He came over and saw them on the smoker and said they were awsome.
Here is a pic of the smoker outside after paint today. -
@Firemanyz my you have a huge....thermometer. )
But, with a top end of 300℉ ya wouldn't want it on your egg unless of course it was 100% dedicated to L&S.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL -
@NPHuskerFL thanks for noticing how BIG it is. They make different temp ranges of this model. They have one that goes from 150 to 750. There is no doubt with these that I will be able to tell you a exact temp in the smoker.

Man that's a nice looking set up.

@Firemanyz yep went on the Tel-Tru site and saw you can even get glow in the dark ones. Pretty cool and they make an excellent product. I have a Tel-Tru room thermometer that dates back to early 60s and its dead accurate. Good stuff.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL
