Vegan CROCK CHEESE for the Vegan guests

If you have Vegan guests at the BBQ, you can always do the roasted veg on the Egg. But I have a Vegan Crock Cheese recipe that is easy and it's actually pretty tasty. I'm not vegan but I enjoy eating this.


1/2 pound firm tofu, rinsed, patted dry, crumbled
3 tablespoons nutritional yeast flakes
2 tablespoons tahini ( found the Organic Tahini tastes better than some others.)
2 tablespoons fresh lemon juice

1/2 tsp or a few drops of Liquid Smoke  for smoked cheese. I always put this in. But it is OPTIONAL

1 1/2 tablespoons sweet white miso
1 teaspoon onion powder
3/4 teaspoon salt
1/2 teaspoon paprika (SMOKED Spanish is nice)
1/4 teaspoon garlic powder
1/4 teaspoon dry mustard


  • Place all the ingredients in a food processor fitted with a metal blade and process until very smooth.
  • Chill for at least an hour before serving.
If you like the idea of vegan cheeses (in case you yourself need to cut out butter fat or have a lot of need for vegan stuff) there is a decent book on artisanal vegan "cheese.
