How low can you go?

Have bought a new XL and would like to know how low can the egg go in the table? I have not seen the back of an XL when open or closed so don't know if the lower hinge pivot is the closest to the table when open. If so then about 1" clearance below the pivot should be OK? Thanks tog

Hello @theoldguy,
Mine is not an XL but a large. I recessed mine to the raised ceramic cast lip. I also raised the table height to a much more comfortable (for me) 38 inches. The lower recess did require a frame and tabletop adjustment in order to accommodate the hinge for opening the dome. Just remember to account for the thickness of the material onto which the egg will sit; something like pavers or bricks. See pics.
Best of luck!

I would be careful getting the egg too low in the table, or getting the egg too close to the egg (where to the cut out is), due to fire risk.
