I would like to thank everyone for their suggestions about eating in the Cumming area.
I'm back in Pennsylvania now and want to share my dining [mostly non-bbq] experiences:
Union [Milton,GA] Shrimp & Cheesy Grits - the best I ever had [but I'm a Yankee so what do I know?]
Antico Pizza
Napolitana in Atlanta – great coal-fired oven pizza. These guys know what they're doing
Gio’s
Chicken Amalfitano in Atlanta. Owned by the same guy who owns Antico Pizza [it's next door]. Try the Sorrento Lemon chicken. Fantastic.
Rio Balsas on Dahlonega Highway in Cumming; really good Mexican food. Terrific fish tacos and the guacamole was muy bueno.
Now the bad news: Swallow at the Hollow in Roswell. Although the biscuits were great, the pork, brisket and ribs were unremarkable. It seemed like they were braised. No smoke that I could detect.
On the other hand, from a few years ago - Amos’ BBQ in Ball Ground. Really good BBQ and Brunswick stew in an old-timey setting - as seen in the attached pictures.
Two Large Eggs; Too Little Time

Ya, Swallow isn't any good. Thanks for naming the restaurants! I live in Cumming, work in Milton, and hadn't heard of the ones you liked! The Dude: This is a very complicated case, Maude. You know, a lotta ins, lotta outs, lotta what-have-you's. And, uh, lotta strands to keep in my head, man. Lotta strands in old Duder's head. Luckily I'm adhering to a pretty strict, uh, drug regimen to keep my mind, you know, limber.Walter Sobchak: Nihilists! *uck me. I mean, say what you want about the tenets of National Socialism, Dude, at least it's an ethos.
