Assembly question?

Assuming that we go get a LBE today... How heavy is this thing? Will my hubby be able to get it into the nest by himself? I am a weakling and would offer little help.

Yes, put the base in first making sure the draft door is centered between the arms of the nest and get it in there straight the first time because if you try to adjust it once it`s in the rubber tips on the nest will slide off, then you have to start over. Not a big deal but takes a little time. Then finish assembly and start cooking! Enjoy!

Don't recall how heavy the base alone is but I was able to lift mine by myself when I set it in my table. Hopefully, between the two of you (or with a helpful neighbor) you'll be able to manage. We'll look forward to seeing future cooks if you do decide to pull the trigger.---------------------------------------------------------------------------------Well, "spa-Peggy" is kind of like spaghetti. I'm not sure what Peggy does different, if anything. But it's the one dish she's kind of made her own.____________________Aurora, Ontario, Canada

If money is not an issue, pay the dealer's assembly / delivery guys. The large is a handful in my weakling opinion. What you pay for help = co-pay for orthopedist visit.Richmond and Mathews County, VA. Large BGE, Weber gas, little Weber charcoal. Vintage ManGrates. Little reddish portable kamado that shall remain nameless here. Very Extremely Stable Genius.

The whole large weighs 162 lbs. I did mine with no help. Easy enough, just don't drop it!!
I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

An average person will have no problem! Good luck!

Assemble it in the nest. Drop the base in then assemble the dome and hinge assembly.Mark Annville, PA

It isn't a problem - open the carton in the car, separate the pieces, and carry them one at a time: bowl, dome, firebox and ring. Of course, I'm freakishly strong - but I'm an old guy. Mine was an XL - as individual pieces, even an old guy can do it. I didn't want to wait for reinforcements to arrive. It's thirsty work - a couple ice cold ones will help you thru.Santa Paula, CA

Thank you!!!! It looks like I'll be an egghead before the day is done!!!! Have a whole lot of housework to do prior though....

Its heavy, but I did mine by myself. I bought a demo egg from an Eggfest so it was assembled and cooked on at the festival. After the festival they had 2 kids put it in my truck for the drive home. Once home, it was up to me. I remember someone saying to put it on a "diet" and remove the ring and firebox assemblies to cut some weight from the egg. After that, I just easily and carefully lowered it into the nest from the back of the Exlporer. Nervous, hell yes! But it worked!Happy Egging!

My dealer puts them together for free, gave me two bags of BGE charcoal and a certificate which got me a 17lb Brisket at a local meat market. Do some places really charge for assembly? Egg, nest, and side tables included. Free delivery to your home within so many miles too. Yes it can be lifted alone. I was outside the free delivery area so I picked it up. I slid it to my tailgate, had the nest waiting and lowered it down. I did remove all the inside parts to make it lighter though.Dearborn MI

Even Pre-Assembled I personally had no issues lifting the dome and the base together (Large) once the guts (fire ring, firebox, etc) were out. If it is going into a nest, a second set of hands is pretty much mandatory though. Good luck!

My dealer assembled/installed in my table at no charge. After four years, no adjustment or assemble issues at all.
