Also im using the smokeware cap that is rounded and stainless and doesnt let water in instead of the DFMT that the egg comes with.

The egg will be fine. You might get wet if you need to check on it. :)

This is Spring Chicken's setup before he built the coop. You can see the smoke if you look carefully. Personally, I gave up cooking in the rain. It's too WET (for me, not the egg).

I hate it when I go to the kitchen for food and all I find are ingredients!

Next time you are in a Lowes or Home Depot go to the duct area of the store and they sell a "chef's hat" you can put on top of the DFMT.  Just use a file or sand paper to remove any sharp edges.  I think it was like $12.

@speleoegg‌ , I have one of those (I think). I bought a chimney cap at lowes. sits right over my DFMT. Works great.

@tulocay, yes you do and you know the correct name.  I got mine at Lowes too.

No worries egging in the rain. But, if you're using a Stoker, CyberQ, DigiQ etc do yourself a favor and protect your investment with some sort of box etc (I have maybe $7 in this one to protect it...well worth it here in FL).

I'm a little late to the game here, but awesome and simple set up! Just gave me some great ideas for cooking in the rain/snow up here.

Just curious, what do you mean by the bottom fell out?

Cooking in the rain will require burning more lump. The rain will cool down the egg. The ceramics on the outside will be below 212* if you see the egg is wet.  Cooking in the rain is like cooking in the winter; adjust your openings. In the summer on a hot, sunny day it take very lump burning to retain a low and slow temperature. Come winter or when it raining, expect to open up the vents more.

It means the sky opened up and the rain poured, might be a southern thing.
