My best Tri Tip ever

Had a Costco tri tip in the fridge and decided to toss it on the XL yesterday. I had some Ken's Vidalia Onion Salad Dressing and lightly coated the meat then dusted with Raising the Steaks DP rub. Did standard reverse sear to 115° IT and got CI grid nuclear for 1 1/2 minutes with 2 turns and flip for two more turns. All I can say is WOW! No pics as this was an experiment, but the V O dressing and R T S complemented each other very well.

I'm going to have to try this one. Hadn't thought about a coating in salad dressing. I just made some tip a couple of weeks ago. It was my first try at it and it was pretty decent. Thanks for sharing.L x2, M, S, Mini and a Blackstone 36. She says I have enough now....eggAddict from MN!

Before I was aware of the Egg (there were no dealers in Iowa in the 70's) we used to slather tied roasts with Newman's Own dressing and cook them on Farberware rotisseries at work in the winter months. They always came out quite good when you hadn't had a grill going for sometime. I have always liked Vidalia onions and when I saw the dressing I had to try it. It wasn't so great on a salad, but I ventured it might be good in place of mustard for BBQ. It was a perfect complement to the Raising the Steaks rub on tri tip. I think the oil in the dressing helped to keep the tri tip even more moist than usual. My wife is not a heavy protein eater, but loved this. She took a couple of left over slices to work for her boss and he said it was superb even after being nuked. Simple, quick and tastes good. Try it once, you might like it.A poor widows son.

I've seen that dressing. Don't know if I've had it on a salad. I usually leave the salad and move on to the meat anyway! HA!L x2, M, S, Mini and a Blackstone 36. She says I have enough now....eggAddict from MN!
