Smelting Metal in The Egg

I guess you can smelt at least aluminum in the BGE. I use aluminum spacer bushings for an air gap under my CI DO and when I was taking the plate setter out one of them fell into the lump and thought I will get it out later. Well I had did a few cooks at 700° and I guess it melted a little. Check the before and after photos.

Pure aluminum melts at 1220F. Many aluminum alloys melt below that. Yep, you can smelt on the egg.
