Kamado Joe charcoal same as Rockwood??

I went to a local Kamado Joe dealer to get some charcoal, and he told me that the new Kamado Joe charcoal (brown bags he said) is the exact same as Rockwood coal. Said that they are bagging it now for Kamado Joe. Does anyone know if this is true? I haven't tried the new bag yet to see. I know some people have a hard time getting Rockwood, so if it is the same, maybe this will open the door for others to get some Rockwood easier if there is a Kamado Joe dealer near your area.

Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.

I have not used Rockwood, but I do know I'm really happy with KJ lump. I've only used red bags. KJ red bags are my go to lump.

I know the new bags of KJ Lump dont last as long cooking wise. everyone says the south american lump they had before was better for longer cooks. I personally use Rockwood and have no issues maintaing good fire for the distance. So I am not sure if it truly stacks up unless ''those people'' have fire building skill issuesEITHER Way, I will stick with my rockwood and probably order another pallet soon.Beaufort, SC

Based on my past experience with KJ, I think this is BS.Someone's getting a letter...

The pieces in the new KJ lump are too small for Rockwood lump. The real Rockwood is on sale on Amazon.com for less money than KJ Lump.
It's too bad they swtiched. The Quebracho tree lump they were using before was a better brand.2x Kamado Joe Big Joes + Cyber Q Wifi + Themapen - Pizza Steel + BGE Paella Pan + BGE Ash Tools + Woo2 + Open Bar Fire Ring -

I thought it was the same as Wicked Good?? Wasn't that the story last year?
They just told @plumbfir01 that the reason his Little Joe sparked so much is because he was using Rockwood and not their brand.
Our charcoal is 100% domestic (100% Missouri to be exact), not from South America.

OK, thanks everyone. It appears the dealer was wrong.

Rockwood, The Good One, Kamado Joe (in the brown bags), and a few other brands all come out of the same place.
