Brinkmann 13" Pizza Stone

Just picked up a 13" ceramic pizza stone made by Brinkmann from Home Depot. It only cost $12.97, so I thought I would try it. The stone is only about 3/8" thick so it seems a little thin. I'm assuming it will take the heat since it was in the BBQ section. I know, I know...I shouldn't assume. Has anybody used one these cheapie stones?

I used an old cheap stone to create indirect cooking a few times until I got my Woo setup. Worked fine, but I wasn't taking it to super high heat.Cooking on an XL and Medium in Bethesda, MD.

I have had one for months, same one from Home Despot, still have not used it though. The box says heat oven to 500F so it should hopefully withstand that temp at least.

@Terrebandit, works fine. I haven't taken over 600° though. Wish it was a little thicker. I like the pampered chef stone better, but heard too many stories about it not being able to take the heat. I only use my pampered chef stone for cookies and such now.Steven

Hey guys, the Home Depot website says it's 1/2 thick, so it should take the heat. I know the CGS and BGE stones are 5/8th thick, but I can have three of the HD stones for the cost of one of the other two. I intend to use this on on a spider for heat deflection, so we will see what she can take that close to the lump.Dave - Austin, TX

The price is exactly why I got. I've already gotten my $13.00 out of it. Bonus use from here on out.Steven
