Everyone heals differently.  Do the PT both at your appts and what is expected at home.  Took over a year for my back, but I could not jog pre surgery.  Stay motivated and think about how much this will improve your quality of life down the road.

Most importantly, take care of yourself.  Everything else will follow suit.

Thanks everyone. I am just ready to run again. I want to get to where I m doing 50 mile type runs so I really want this to work out and fully resolve my issues. Ultra distance running is my goal.

If that is your thing, be sure to consult a good orthopedist if there comes a time for total replacement down the road.  After having both done I was cautioned to not run or jump.  I am just coming up on a year from the first surgery and about a month ago my knees finally began to feel like they were "mine".  I waited too long and had muscle atrophy from walking stiff legged for several years, but things are slowly improving.  The biggest thing for me is that I can sleep through the night now as I don't wake up with pain like being lightening struck every time I move/rollover in bed.  Of course I am 65 and my running/jumping days are somewhat behind me anyway.

Good points. I'm 4 weeks today. I still walk with a limp, have good amount of swelling, knee cap hasn't settled yet, and light to moderate discomfort. I'm thinking going to take longer than I thought to start running again. But I was told today at PT I can start walking without crutches as long as doesn't hurt too much.

I'm only 28, will be 29 in 6 weeks, so I expect to get where I want barring any setbacks. Like to knock out at least a few 10Ks this year and maybe a half marathon.
