Board Width for BGE Table

I've seen several different plans for tables, but wanted to get the forums thoughts.  I am leaning towards making my table out of cedar.  The local lumber yard seems to have cedar 1x4, 1x8 and 1x12 boards.  Most plans I see use six 1x4 boards to make up the table top.  Besides personal preference, would there be any benefit to using three 1x8 boards or two 1x12 boards to make the top?  I am thinking the fewer boards, the less chance of small boards warping, etc.  Thoughts?

I believe 1x4 will warp less.  Be sure to face the cup of the rings down.

Smaller boards may warp, but the magnitude of the warp will be a lot smaller than if you have a 12" board.  Also, if you screw them down, I doubt they will warp assuming they were straight to begin with.
