Call about getting a base. It should be under 200. The other option is post on Craigslist that you need a new one, they tend to pop up all the time in certain areas.
I just bought a high dome for our XL, it was close to $300. I have been using one of our cracked XL bases for a while now with no troubles. Chances of your base busting in 2 are next to 0. Took an infrared thermomter to the bottom of a 550* Egg once, it was only 140* or so. Your crack is below the fire line, it is not as hot as you think it is. Problem with trying to seal it will be any out gassing from the heat. If I get a chance I will stop in my Egg dealer and look in the book for a price. Keep in mind, once you buy a new base it will have a warranty.
I would call you local dealer and at least talk to them, they very well might take care of it.
