How do you get the Thermometer off so I can test it

    Gotta take the clip off the back. Thin silver thing on the inside of the dome.

    you have to compress the outer most part of the spring and then pull while compressed.Then when you get the spring off throw it in the trash! Gravity will hold that thermometer in place and you won't have to fight getting it off again.

    also a neat tip..when you are firing up your egg ,rotate the thermometer so your desired dome temp (Say (350") is at the 12 0'clock position.Then you can tell from a distance if you are cooking at the right temp.The needle will be straight up and down

    The clip is easy to remove, you can toss it if you want, but I use mine to clip my BBQ guru pit temp thermocouple to so I find the clip useful.  But RRP is right that the gauge won't fall out if you don't use the clip.

    Guk gets built up on the stem so it may not be all that easy to remove. Spray it with Pam a couple of times if you have used the egg for a while
