I have a relatively inexpensive single coil table top model from Sunpentown, with the name "Mr. Induction." It goes up to 1300W. Pros: Quickly brings food up to temperature, and holds it there. Little excess heat, can be used without raising the kitchen temperature. Cons: The listed temp settings are not correct, but by using my thermopen, I found what temp various settings actually produced. The fan is kind of noisy. I find using it more than a half hour to be irritating. I suppose one get what one pays for.

Can't help with a portable. I've seen them at Costco. Safe bet to buy one there. They are pretty cheap.
