On those installs, I did have to get it off the dome too.  I'm a little OCD when it comes to my egg so that's probably the bigger reason.   :D
    That's fine - what ever floats your boat! I just recommend there is no need to separate your dome and base as most times the felt on the dome is the first one to be "history" to began with.
    Re-gasketing America one yard at a time.
