New table build, hinge question...

I'm getting ready to build my table, I was wondering if there is any downside to having the egg lowered so it's kind of flushed...Kind of like the picture i have attached. I plan on using cedar wood and modifying the plans from Nakedwhiz. I'll also be using the table nest instead of concrete paver. Any input would be greatly appreciated and if you can share the cuts for the hinge :)

Thanks newbie,
Eddie...

Nope. That's how I plan to do mine if I ever get to it.

    I found the cutout...

I've had a few ask about the opening and cutout for the hinge. My opening for the Egg is 22" in diameter and the cutout for the hinge is 4.5" deep and 9" wide (might want to measure your hinge at wide open to be sure as I know there were at least two different versions on the Large Egg).
