decision to buy

I have been reading about these kamados, and I am interested in them. However, before I decide to purchase one, I want to get a little hands on experience with one, or at the very least, see someone else cook with one, and sample the results. Who can suggest how I might do that? Thanks, neighbors.

    Richard,
Where are you located? I'm sure that any egger near you who reads your post would volunteer to give you a demo.

    Richard,
I wanted to do the same thing before I bought my egg. As a result, I missed out on a whole month of great food. :-) Ask your local dealer, if you have one, about any events in the area. Mine offered to fire up a new one in front of his store to demo for me. I waited until there was a barbecue contest in the area and checked out the tents. I saw several eggs in use, talked to the owners and proceded to the dealer to snatch one for myself. The whole family loves it. I've done about everything but a Boston Butt so far and it really is all it's cracked up to be. [p]Regards,
    Mike

  • Richard,
If you love to cook and experiment with cooking, and don't mind spending the money, the Egg is to have. This machine is a cut above any and I mean any smoker, gasser are charcoal grill you will ever buy. It is also garanteed for life. No other cooker gives that warrantee. No other cooker has food that taste as good. Get out the money and buy one. I am not one of the wealthy ones here and it was not easy for me to spring for the large Egg, but NO regrets.[p]Chef Jerry

And the fact that there are eggers spread all over the place that would be more than willing to give a demo....well, sure says a lot about the cooker![p]Cheers mang!

  • Sundown,
    Hi, Sundown,
    Thanks for your reply/offer!
I live in the Birmingham Alabama metro area, more specifically, south of town in Hoover. There is a BGE dealer not far from me, but they do not appear to be doing a lot of business. [p]Thanks again!
    Sincerely,
    R.

    Richard Brewer,
Post another thread saying you are looking for Eggers in the Birmingham area. I'm in Massachusetts so, I'm not going to be much help to you. As for your local dealer, I'm not sure what you expect. Like you, many people go through a long buying decision period. I didn't. I went looking for a Weber and came home with an Egg. I could see the sense of the whole thing and if it just didn't work at all I could get my hands around the dealers throat. That was six years ago. We Egg at least 5 nights a week in the spring, summer and fall and 2 or 3 nights a week in the winter. The forum is here and there isn't anything you can't ask here. You'll get 10 different answers to each of your questions and they'll alkl work. Don't spend your time wondering is "this is a good idea", just do it.

Richard,[p]I recommend a short drive North to Florence, AL and visit Tony at The Grilling Room. Tony is a great guy and sells a ton of BGE's. I cooked with him and Squeeze at the Rocket City Cook-off and he does a lot supporting QBabe's Florida Eggfest.[p]He comes highly recommended![p]GrillMeister

GrillMeister, It looks like the Grilling room used Smoking Joe for the model. Or are we doing a separted at birth with Tony and Smoking Joe. If so, how can the southeast stand it, two guys looking like that. LOL tom
