Cast Iron Cajun Blackened Tuna Steaks

I found some real nice fresh Ahi Tuna steaks and have been kicking around several recipe ideas. I've always been a fan of blackened fish. The last ones I did were some fresh flounder my Son & caught. I will update this with pics around supper time.
Side note: For those of you I possibly offended with my last OT post (which apparently was to risque and was subsequently completely deleted) I apologize. And for those that found humor glad you enjoyed a laugh. Perhaps I'll tone it down a bit. I better with 8 abuse flags [-X
But, today I focus on enjoying this gorgeous day the Lord has provided us all. And looking forward to pleasing the pallets of my family with some blackened Southern cuisine. Stay tuned. Enjoy your day friends :-)

I enjoyed your last post. Sucks that they got rid of it. It had some good commercials

@hapster... Have you ever done tuna steaks this way? I was rummaging around and couldn't locate my can of blackening spice. Googled and made some with stuff I already have on hand. Also making some corn on the cob and SWMBO is whipping up some fresh salad. Inviting our neighbors overt for supper tonight and for Easter.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

I've done grouper and catfish.... I can't see how tuna would be much different, except for the time. Def don't want to go much past medium rare on good tuna.MSV Chill Spot

With tuna, just keep it rare. Sear it and that's it IMHO.They/Them

No problem... Enjoy! Always better to have to throw it back on for a few seconds than have a piece overcooked.NPHuskerFL said:@hapster...got it. Thx. Will update with pics.

@hapster @DMW it's gonna be interesting I'm a sushi kinda guy and everybody else even with beef steaks prefer well done. I tear up a little each time I see a well done steak. Prefer mine rare to medium rare. But, I aim to please.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Hey, don't even think of toning down your posts. Instead, send the porn posts to a porn site, and keep the cooking posts coming here...those posts are enjoyable and well written. We don't have to read about that other side of you that has nothing to do with the BGE.And no it wasn't me.Judy in San Diego

Corn on the cob is on raised grid. And then the flood gates opened. Pouring rain so, I'll do my best at photo ops :-DLBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Weather was not conducive to egging pics. It turned out very good family and friends alike enjoyed. Here are a few shots that Iwas able to get.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

NPHuskerFL It looks to me like you pretty well nailed it on that tuna. That's just how I like it, seared on the outside and still pink in the middle. Did you serve it with a little wasabi and soy?XLBGE, LBGE, MBGE, SMALL, MINI, 2 Kubs, Fire Magic Gasser

@td66snrf ...thank you. No actually we ate it as you see. The flavor was incredible and the blackening spice recipe I used along with the sear really let the flavor of the tuna shine. This was the first set of tuna steaks I've done. But, won't be the last. Can't wait to go fishing now.LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Awesome meal dude!! You nailed it.

@FLbobecu...thanks brotha! It's all fun and games until the FL rain sneaks up on ya. Umbrella in one hand, tongs in the other and counted in my head so I wouldn't over cook them. It was quite entertaining. And to be frank didn't go as planned because of the weather but, can't complain it's not like I was outside in a CAT3 or anything. :-)LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

The tuna was cooked to perfection. Great job. What ever was falling from the sky didn't have to be shoveled! ;;)Every day is a bonus day and every meal is a banquet in Winter Springs, Fl !

@GrannyX4 thanks & nope no snow falling here ;-). @hapster, @TexanOfTheNorth & @DMW Thanks. The piece that is cut to see the doneness was mine. Everybody else requested well done and I had to toss several back on to get "all" the pink cooked. But, most importantly it was a nice gathering. :-)LBGE 2013 & MM 2014Die Hard HUSKER & BRONCO FANFlying Low & Slow in "Da Burg" FL

Your piece definitely looks perfect! It's a shame everyone else forced you to ruin theirs .Which came first the chicken or the egg? I egged the chicken and then I ate his leg.
-
@NPHuskerFL tuna looks killer, and as for the commercial post, I laughed my butt off Friday watching it at work. And you did include a warning in the title. So I see no issues. \:D/Slumming it in Aiken, SC.

@SmokeyPitt...thanks man! Remember what you and I consider "ruined" may be considered perfection to others. (shrugging shoulders) that's cool as long as they enjoy it.
